Less than an hour ago At 9:35 AM on Friday the 20th, I walked out my front door and saw this: Three contrails being left behind 3 very fast moving objects.  Is this what the apocalypse looks like right before the flash of bright light?
I live in a suburb of Las Vegas, which is near Nellis Air Force Base, some old nuclear test sites, and Area 51.  I’ve heard stories that casino hosts used to take their high rollers up on the roofs of the casinos to watch the nuclear testing. That sounds like a good idea – yeah, let’s do that.
But maybe these were just very fast moving jets. I managed to snap a few photos, but my camera couldn’t zoom in enough to get a detailed picture of the craft. Â I can say that whatever they were they were moving extremely fast. They traveled across the sky, from the West to the East, in only about one minute. Hit the jump for more photos.
Click on the photos to see them closer up…
Within about 30 seconds they went from clear to the west to being directly overhead…
And here is a close-up of one of the unidentified flying objects. Â To me it sort of looks like a Colonial Viper from Battlestar Galactica. Â Although at this distance it would be much much larger.
Update: One of my buddies pointed out that people might think I photoshopped the pictures. I only resized them to fit on the web and add the website bug. That’s it.
UPDATE #2: Fox 5 News in Las Vegas picked up on my post. I spoke with them this afternoon. I then spoke with someone at Nellis AFB (see the story on their website) who verified that they were patriot missiles and were part of a training exercise called “Operation Red Flag” that Nellis Air Force base is involved in this month. Â However, the rockets came in from the west (of where I live), while Nellis is more to the East. Â This is likely because an Army Patriot Missile Battery is in from Fort Bragg, N.C. and set up operations in Delamar Valley, west of Caliente.
Good hunting gentlemen!

Hey cool… pretty good pictures I think…
Yeah I was lucky to see them AND have my good camera in my hand at the same time. I literally walked out the door and was like "what the heck is that?" Put my stuff in my car and started taking photos. I only took 3 pictures but got the shot.
Awesome.. it is perfect..
Pretty cool Michael.
Wish I'd been there.
Great job. Everyone should be as observant!!! Keep and eye out.
Funny, that I was in the house and rather than coming in to say "Hey come look at this" you just IM me with the link to your blog later in the day. OK…I will concede that a) I had been sick all week and looked like fresh road kill in cute pjs and b) was on a con call..but I still find it funny.
